A Praying Church is a Powerful Church

The Early church was a powerful church where God moved in mighty ways, and Acts chapter 2 tells us why.

Acts 2:42     And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

The key word here is devoted. This passage tell us what was important to the early church, to those first believers in Jesus. That word devoted implies an intensity and a deliberation. when they came together to pray they were doing a lot more than reading names off a list. They were fervent, intense, and passionate about prayer.

Prayer was not an add-on to give them permission to eat a meal. It was serious stuff for a serious group of church members. Prayer was the lifeblood of the early church.
